This beautiful New England state is a wonderful place to visit, no matter what your interests. Whether you are planning on a romantic vacation for two or a family vacation with the kids, there is something to make everybody happy in Connecticut.

If you are a history buff or traveling with children, you might want to check out the Mark Twain House in Hartford, which is the Victorian mansion that served as Twain's home for 17 years. Many of his possessions are still in the 19-room house, which is open for tours daily. While you are in the area, the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center is located nearby. Built in 1871, this Victorian cottage was once the home of Stowe, who is best known for her book Uncle Tom's Cabin. For those more interested in natural history, the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University has some great exhibits of dinosaurs, Native Americans, Egyptians and human origins.

For the more adventuresome, there are two major amusement parks in Connecticut--Quassy Amusement Park and Lake Compounce. If you are visiting the North Central Connecticut region, you'll find Six Flags New England located right over the Connecticut border in Agawam, Massachusetts. While you are in the area, check out the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, which has more than 70 aircraft on display, including a selection of vintage fighters and bombers.
